How can the resources of the private sector be more effectively leveraged to help battle three of the world’s most devastating communicable diseases?
This was the topic on Monday when Patrik Silborn, the head of the Private Sector Engagement Department for the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria, joined in a roundtable discussion in Tokyo, where he presented the fund’s new initiative for building innovative partnerships with the private sector.
The Friends of the Global Fund, Japan (FGFJ), which is operated by JCIE, organized this discussion to introduce the fund’s concept of an innovation hub to leverage partnerships and the private sector’s core competencies on procurement and supply-chain management. Participants from more than a dozen private companies and public and private organizations were invited to consider various possibilities for engaging with the Global Fund and contributing their knowledge and expertise for faster and more efficient delivery of medicine and health commodities to those in need in developing countries.
