FGFJ Issue Brief | “Supply Chains Supported by the Global Fund: Current Challenges and Future Prospects”

Friends of the Global Fund, Japan (FGFJ) is pleased to announce the publication of the third issue of the FGFJ Issue Brief series: “Supply Chains Supported by the Global Fund: Current Challenges and Future Prospects”

To effectively utilize limited funds and maximize the cost-effectiveness of infectious disease countermeasures (particularly the cost-effectiveness of funds allocated to healthcare products), it is essential to strengthen the healthcare product supply chain system. This issue, written by Dr. Haruya Kato, former Specialist at the Supply Chain Investment Department of the Global Fund, examines the current situation and challenges of the supply chain by referencing publicly available data and case studies from the Global Fund. Taking into account the current global trend of decreasing ODA, it also examines the impact on complementary relationships among partners, the need to reduce reliance on external aid, and the potential for further collaboration with private companies, which are expected to play an increasingly important role in the future.
