On April 11, FGFJ invited Dr. Shunsuke Mabuchi, the Global Fund’s Head of Resilient and Sustainable Systems for Health and Pandemic Preparedness and Response, to speak at the 36th meeting of the FGFJ Diet Task Force.
Dr. Mabuchi addressed the role of the Global Fund in promoting future pandemic prevention, preparedness and response in low- and middle-income countries, highlighting its support in five key areas: community systems and responses, monitoring and evaluation systems, human resources for health and quality of care, health product management systems, and laboratory systems strengthening. He also discussed how the Global Fund complements other multilateral organizations to play a unique role in strengthening health systems.
While in Japan, Dr. Mabuchi gave a speech at the entrance ceremony of the University of Tokyo. He spoke about life lessons he’s learned throughout his career in global health and development, and encouraged students to search for their dreams and challenged them to help fight against global challenges from infectious diseases to climate change, and stressed the importance of working across sectors to find solutions. His full speech and video in Japanese are available here.
